DJONNI LASER
Djonni Laser "adaptive cycle"
„Adaptive cycle“ is an electronic live composition that was created in 2024 during a residency as part of the Ecology and Art Symposium in Lindabrunn and has been further developed since then. In her artistic work, Djonni Laser deals with the complexity of socio- ecological systems, using the adaptive cycle principle as a tool for reflection. A system
goes through four phases: growth, maintenance, collapse and reorganisation, whereby the concept of panarchy illustrates how a system always exists in relation to many other systems. The composition ‘Adaptive Cycle’ thus consists of interlocking subordinate and superordinate cycles that transform into small and large cycles. Abstract fragments of speech mix with lively synthesiser modulations, broken beats and piano patterns. Field recordings and earthy noise sounds also reveal dirty and authentic sides. Musique concrète, ambient, noise and avant-garde electronica are the perfect means of expression to process the complexity of her reflections. Djonni Laser transforms scientific facts into an atmospheric soundscape, conveying a sense of profound perception of the environment. Stylishly employed effects such as reverbs and echoes create an immersive sound space that transcends physical boundaries. Thanks to her DJ experience and intensive collective work, Djonni Laser has a keen sense of sound space and connection with her audience. Her live electronic music arrangements are lovingly challenging, not easy listening, but always interesting, arousing curiosity and enabling a profound experience. With open arms, she invites listeners to lie down in her bed of sound and experience with her the complexity and abstractness of social and ecological systems.
